THE MENTORSHIP

Sports agents help represent the interest of athletes in any professional sports. They usually handle NFL draft prospects' training expenses, contract negotiations, sponsorship, PR planning, and also financial planning. I had the opportunity to work with Jeff Whitney of the Sports and Entertainment Group in learning about the world of sports agency, NFL scouting, and prospect scouting. When I played college football and was a 2017 NFL Draft prospect, I dealt with a couple of different agents. Due to my bad experiences with these agents, I did not get the opportunity to showcase my talent in front of NFL scouts, so I wanted to learn more about the world of sports agents and how the job is supposed to be done. Jeffery Whitney is one of the most certified sports agents in the NFL and showcases several household talents on his team. This mentorship will allow me to learn the background of sports agencies and how agents deal with a player’s need and also the art of scouting players and bringing the best talent into the agency.
