Today I will be concluding my mentorship with Jeff and will be finishing up the project that I will have on my website. This has been an amazing experience because I was able to go back to focusing on the world of football which is something that I loved and committed most of my life to. After I gave up on football in 2018, I started working regular jobs in the corporate world, and while I was able to have good pay and a nice experience it still was something that I did not want to focus on any longer. Today I was able to ask Jeff some remaining questions on the mentorship such as ways to stay successful in a market like this and the challenges that can come about with working in a highly competitive sports market field. Even though the mentorship itself will be over I will still be in contact with Jeff and hopefully once CoVid Restrictions ease up we can do more face-to-face work which will be very helpful. Since my area is scouting players, I will be creating my first “Mock Draft” of the athletes of the Sports and Entertainment Group. While viewing the film and their pro-day results, I will be able to make a chart on where I believe these players will get drafted in the NFL. The reason why I want to do a mock draft for my project is that as a scout you want to be able to evaluate these players precisely and creating a mock draft and comparing it to the true draft results coming up next week will help me know how well I can evaluate players and also the things that I need to improve on in scouting and evaluating talent.

One of the most important things in an NFL player’s career is being able to brand themselves. With the world of social media, you see players like JUJU Smith Schuster and Lebron James using social media and the entertainment world to their advantage to help market themselves and also make more revenue out of their respective sports. This is where endorsements come in which allows players to receive free products and get paid to wear a certain brand. There are a few players within the Sports and Entertainment Group who has endorsements and today we are proud to announce that Stefon Diggs will be joining the Jordan Brand on a partnership and endorsement. Stefon has proved to be one of the most elite receivers since joining the Minnesota Vikings in 2014 and also on his first year with the Buffalo Bills. The Jordan Brand was created by well you know…... The man Michael Jordan himself has transitioned his way to other sports besides basketball. You will Jordan Basketball Cleats who was made famous by New York Yankee legend Derek Jeter and also LeVeon Bell is a Jordan Brand athlete. This comes from strategic marketing which ensures that every one of your marketing efforts aligns with your overall plan to connect the information you have with the audience that needs to hear it. Stefon is a very vocal player who is well-liked by many fans and this is a great look for the Sports and Entertainment Group! A sports agent who can bring big endorsements to its clients will be very valuable to the next big players looking for a sports agency to join. Congrats Diggs!

Today will be a full day of work as I have to evaluate two players today, but good thing is that they will be participating in the same pro-day! As stated, we have Carson Williams who has recently joined the Sports and Entertainment Group, and catch this! He is taking the same path as George and will be putting down the basketball to join the field! Carson was a 4-year player at both Western Kentucky University and Northern Kentucky University and with his large stature, he will be working for a chance at either Tight End or Offensive Lineman. George has been a big help to Carson and will continue to mentor him in his transition. Jordan Meredith will also be showcasing his ability to scouts and will look to prove that he can be a force in this offensive lineman heavy draft!

Carson Williams Pro Day Results Jordan Meredith Results

  • 40 Yard Dash – 4.73 40 Yard Dash – 4.98

  • Bench- 18 Bench - 25

  • Vertical – 38.0 Vertical - 32.0

  • Broad Jump – 9-7 Broad Jump – 9-2

Both players put on a great outing with a good number. I was very impressed with Caron’s pro-day as he put up some very strong numbers which was a testament to his hard work. Also, Jordan showed that he is an offensive lineman who can move very well and play physically. I can see Carson moving to offensive lineman with his 6’4 254 LB frame as he put on more weight because he will have great speed to compete against these defensive linemen who are freak athletes, but it will be more hard work that has to be put in. Congrats to both on solid pro-days and for my project I will put together a mock draft with all the athletes!
