ABOUT THE STUDENT

Hello! My name is Azell Mitchell and I am from Cincinnati Ohio. Growing up I always had a passion for sports and my main goal was to play a professional sport of some sort. I first started off playing baseball than a basketball before finally finding the courage to step on the football field. Though I struggled and sometimes wanted to quit I stuck by it and it eventually became my life. When I got to high school football was the only sport I played and it followed me throughout college. I attended Tiffin University and majored in Business Administration: Supply Chain. I played on the football team for 4 years and was a starter playing both right and left tackle. In my senior year, I earned All Gliac honors and had the opportunity to play in the Dream Bowl All-Star game. I worked to play in the National Football League but due to having a poor agent, I didn’t get the opportunity to showcase my talents in a pro-day which hurt my chances of playing in the NFL. I then met Jeff Whitney during the same year in 2018 who was representing my cousin George Fant who played for the Seattle Seahawks at the time. Jeff helped give me some pointers on what I needed to do and helped me to get in front of CFL scouts whom I impressed and as I was going to get signed there was a problem and I couldn’t move to Canada. Jeff continued to stick by me and helped me get looks by many Arena teams who offered me contracts but I declined as I wanted to move on. I am using the opportunity in my mentorship course to work closely with Jeff and use my passion for scouting as a way to find the right clients for him and also help him with anything he may need assistant with. This is going to be a great journey and I hope to learn as much as possible under him.
